Adventures

Alaska’s Little Norway was founded more than 100 years ago by Norwegian anglers. Petersburg was named after Peter Buschmann, a Norwegian immigrant who arrived in the late 1890s and homesteaded on the north end of Mitkof Island.

Bear Observatory

During the peak viewing season of July and August, Forest Service interpreters are on-site to provide current information on bear safety, trail conditions, and bear activity.

Le Conte Glacier

LeConte Bay, located about 20 miles east of Petersburg Alaska, is a 12 mile-long fjord carved out of the coastal mountain range by glaciers over the course of thousands of years.
